The Doomed Machine

A 'Machine' is a programmable piece of animated artwork that lives fully on-chain, mainnet Ethereum. There are 18 different Machines and each has as a low supply of individually numbered editions. Once you own a machine edition, you control your own version of that Machine. Each Machine contains three different animation sources, combined with decay and glitch effects. These are the raw elements that can all be manipulated and combined to create the final artwork. The result is a Machine that can produce a huge number of completely different animated outputs. So you get to decide what yours looks like

The modern approach to editions typically uses the ERC-1155 standard, where all copies of the edition are part of a shared token. ERC-721 numbered editions give each collector their own unique NFT with an individual edition number. Because each token is unique, it can support owner-specific features and dynamic customisation that aren't possible with shared ERC-1155 editions.

The collection is 150 tokens, generated from the sum of every machine's edition size.

There are 18 different machines in the current artwork corpus, with a metadata edition schedule containing 138 slots. Each machine has a varying edition size ranging from 1/1 unique through to 1/15. Every minted token can be manually configured to display its machine in a unique way.

The more rows a machine has, the more potential combinations there are. Some machines have 4 rows, whilst the highest number of rows is 9. The number of potential different output combinations is huge.

Every token has five personal presets. The core artwork and palette is fixed. Preset 0 is ramdomly geenrated at mint and is an immutable preset for the token. While the token owner can customize personal slots 1 through 4. Only the selected preset changes tokenURI.

If you own a Doomed Machine, once you connect your wallet you will be able to visit 'My Tokens' in the header menu where you can configure the presets and chose how you want your machine to be displayed.

Every piece of art and it's metadata is generated and rendered from the smart contract and are stored directly on the Ethereum blockchain. There are no external servers to host the artwork and metadata. Your NFT is truly permanent.
